Courage and Creativity: The Civic Imagination Challenge offers a chance to be civic artists and civic heroes by engaging the public in these new possibilities through narratives that can inspire forward focus and greater cooperation.

THE CIVIC IMAGINATION CHALLENGE

In their book “Generations”, co-authors Neil Howe and Robert Strauss chart America’s journey from its Puritan roots to the modern era and document four generational archetypes they say repeat in cycles over the decades: Prophets, Nomads, Heroes and Artists.

Today’s Millennial and Gen Z’ generations reflect the latter two in the cycle; the archetypes of the Hero and the Artist, courage and creativity, just the characteristics we need to lead the transition to a sustainable future over the critical decades ahead.

The Civic Imagination Challenge features virtual conferences with Thought Leaders at the forefront of new directions who share their knowledge and highlight emerging innovations shaping our pathway forward.

They introduce exciting new possibilities for careers, enterprises, and community services that can put young people a step ahead on their journey forward.

Following are the sectors that will be featured:

  • Renewable Energy, Microgrids, New Energy Sources & Innovations
  • Regenerative Architecture, Retrofit & Passive Housing, Construction Formats, and Materials
  • Electric Transportation, Solar Cars, Batteries & Charging Options
  • Technology, Ethics & The Digital Infrastructure
  • New Economy Models & Practices
  • Community Resilience & Economies
  • Regeneration: The Path Forward

The Civic Imagination Challenge will launch early in the New Year. It will invite college students and young professionals to review the Conferences and use the Civic Imagination App to highlight projects and concepts that captured their imagination.  The public will be invited to vote on these themes which will be showcased across our American Imagination social media channels.

By engaging the public in new possibilities through narratives that can inspire, participants can cultivate their Civic Voice while helping focus citizens on the future we can have and win prizes in the process.
