Livestreamed Civic Conversations

Deliberative democracy is a form of democracy in which deliberation is central to decision-making. Polling software will be incorporated into the livestreamed event so that any participant can contribute to the conversation increasing opportunities for a highly diverse Millennial Generation to both voice their opinions and get to consensus on key issues that will affect their lives.

The first in a series of national livestreamed conversations will be held on Saturday, February 24th from the Great Hall at Cooper Union, 7 East 7th Street, New York, NY. The topic will be Climate Change.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S BURDEN

Goals are to understand its impact on the lives of a young generation, stimulate broader engagement, and ultimately to get consensus on key challenges and plans of action. The event will include

  • A keynote by the leading voice on Climate Change: Dr. James Hansen
  • Student presenters from several universities
  • A panel of experts to highlight current planning and solutions
  • National participation via polling to get consensus on key issues
  • An Art & Design Charette to translate the key consensus statements into graphic designs for a Millennial Visions T-Shirt Collection to wear and share these ideas.
